Ceramics/Clay
"Clay is a medium I've worked in for over 25 years. I'm a painter by formal education,
so I approach the clay from a painterly perspective. I use a slab roller to
make my forms - I do not throw on the wheel. For many years I
concentrated on a round flat form, plates and platters. My goal was to see how
many fresh conclusions I could create with a round form. Examples are the large
plates that are show below. I have sold over 7,000, each named, each unique. I work with lo-fire glazes/lo-fire clay and fire in electric kilns (no gas). My
pieces are functional, l but I've also created many pieces that are
heavy bas-relief and non-functional. The glazing is challenging
and always a surprise. For me, that part is exciting."
At this time (August, 2010), all plates have been sold and further production will be announced.
