Robert Morris is a painter who’s accomplished in oils, acrylic, pastels. His style is representational. “I try to capture the spirit of the subject”. The subject can be landscape, cowboy, animals, portrait. Currently he’s been focusing on an eleven year long portrait collection called “First Americans”. Standing at currently over 100 portraits the project embodies portraits of tribal members as they’re seen in today’s world. For this he’s used bold colored, soft pastels on a specially prepared, fine grade sand paper surface. The Collection was recently featured at Paseo Originals Gallery in the historic arts district of Oklahoma City.
Morris’s travels would fill many books. He shares time, energy and space with the subjects he’s painting. For the Charro Collection, Mexico and the US - for the Tribal “First Americans” traveling to the powwow’s, attempting to seek out the essence of his subjects. A pending project soon to be added is a collection of cowboys starting at the tip of South America and ending in Canada. If you would like to see more of them please email Robert Morris
